Location: Chicago, Illinois (Remote)
Role Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced IT Audit professional to support a large global banking institution's regulatory remediation, consent order validation, and financial crimes technology initiatives. This temporary engagement requires an independent auditor capable of assessing risk, developing testing strategies, and executing audit procedures with minimal oversight. Candidates should be comfortable with a flexible schedule, including working early mornings a few days a week to accommodate global meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate regulatory remediation activities and corrective action plans related to consent orders and regulatory findings.
- Develop and execute risk-based testing strategies to assess the design and operating effectiveness of remediation efforts.
- Perform IT audit testing across governance, change management, technology operations, applications, and data controls.
- Assess AML and Financial Crimes technology environments and associated control frameworks.
- Review system configurations, technical documentation, data flows, and application controls to identify risk and validate remediation efforts.
- Conduct targeted substantive testing and deep-dive reviews of complex control environments.
- Challenge assumptions, identify root causes, and develop meaningful audit observations and recommendations.
- Prepare regulator-ready workpapers and audit documentation capable of withstanding Internal Audit, Regulatory, and External Audit scrutiny.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of IT Audit experience within large global banking institutions.
- Experience supporting regulatory remediation, consent order validation, issue remediation, and regulatory programs.
- Expertise auditing AML and Financial Crimes technology environments, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC/CDD, and related systems.
- Experience auditing SDLC, Change Management, system configurations, and application controls.
- Experience evaluating data interfaces, data lineage, data quality controls, and system-to-system connections.
- Controls testing, risk assessment, and substantive testing experience.
- Ability to independently lead and execute audit testing with minimal oversight.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation, system architecture, data flows, and code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to support stakeholders across EMEA and APAC time zones.
- Must be located on the East Coast or available to work East Coast business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payments systems and related technology environments.
- Prior experience supporting consent orders, MRAs, MRIAs, or other regulatory enforcement actions.
- Experience auditing model validation and model risk management processes.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CIA, CAMS, or CPA.
