Summary

About us

Coalition is the world's first Active Insurance provider designed to help prevent digital risk before it strikes. Founded in 2017, Coalition combines comprehensive insurance coverage and innovative cybersecurity tools to help businesses manage and mitigate potential cyberattacks.

Opportunities to make an impact with bold thinking are real-and happening daily at Coalition.

About the role

We are seeking a Reinsurance Underwriter to join Coalition's fast growing Coalition Re team. Since binding our first treaty in 2025, we have seen tremendous demand for our proprietary scanning and aggregation modeling expertise. To support this growth we are building the underwriting bench.

This is a foundational role for someone early in their career who wants to learn cyber reinsurance underwriting from the ground up. You will work directly alongside senior underwriters, actuarial, and modeling on live treaty submissions - preparing and analyzing cedant data, supporting pricing and exposure analysis, drafting underwriting files, and maintaining the documentation and reporting that keeps our portfolio and capacity relationships running. Over time, you will take ownership of smaller accounts and working-level broker relationships.

This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite alongside senior underwriters on new and renewal Cyber Treaty Reinsurance business
  • Develop a working understanding of the cyber reinsurance marketplace, including coverage trends, loss activity, and competitor behavior
  • Build working-level relationships with reinsurance brokers and cedants
  • Evaluate submissions reviewing bordereaux, loss experience, and exposure data for completeness and quality
  • Analyze cedant performance, exposures, and loss experience in partnership with actuarial and modeling to draft submission summaries, pricing indications, and underwriting files for senior underwriter review
  • Review treaty wordings in close collaboration with legal, ensuring consistency between intent, pricing, structure, and contractual terms.
  • Track cedant bordereau, premium, and loss reporting, and follow up on outstanding or inconsistent data
  • Collaborate closely with Actuarial, Modeling, Product, Engineering, and Claims teams to support underwriting tool development and other business needs
  • Assist in the development of new reinsurance products
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting on production and portfolio metrics
  • Support onboarding and ongoing servicing of cedants in Helios
  • Support onboarding and ongoing management of white-label cyber programs, including referral triage against standard program parameters
  • Travel as needed to meet clients and brokers
Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in reinsurance, brokerage, actuarial, or data analytics
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced comfort working with large and imperfect data sets
  • Understanding of treaty structures, pricing concepts, portfolio construction, policy wording and contract terms
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly around data quality, documentation, and version control
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to summarize technical analysis for underwriters, brokers, and cedants
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills with the ability to earn credibility and trust with external and internal stakeholders
  • Progress toward professional designations such as Associate in Reinsurance or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter is a plus
  • 4-year college degree preferred
