Enterprise AWS Cloud Migration Architect

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Architect to lead the migration of approximately 100 enterprise applications from on-premises and/or other cloud platforms to AWS. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS architecture, migration planning, application assessment, cloud adoption frameworks, landing zone implementation, security, networking, and large-scale migration execution.

The architect will work closely with application owners, infrastructure teams, security, networking, and business stakeholders to develop migration strategies, modernize workloads where appropriate, and ensure successful migration with minimal business disruption.

Key Responsibilities

Migration Strategy & Planning

• Lead discovery and assessment of approximately 100 business applications.
• Define migration approaches using the AWS 7Rs framework (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Relocate, Retire, Retain).
• Develop migration waves, dependency mapping, and migration roadmaps.
• Create application migration business cases and migration plans.
• Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies.

AWS Architecture Design

• Architect secure, scalable, and resilient AWS solutions.
• Design AWS Landing Zones and multi-account strategies.
• Define target-state architectures for applications and shared services.
• Establish networking architecture including:
• VPCs
• Transit Gateway
• Direct Connect
• Route 53
• Security Groups
• Network segmentation

Cloud Migration Execution

• Lead migration factories and migration wave planning.
• Support workload migrations using:
• AWS Application Migration Service (MGN)
• AWS Migration Hub
• AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
• AWS DataSync
• AWS Transfer Family
• Oversee migration testing and cutover activities.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing and production deployments.

Security & Compliance

• Implement AWS security best practices.
• Design IAM strategy and role-based access controls.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies.
• Implement:
• GuardDuty
• Security Hub
• AWS Config
• CloudTrail
• KMS

Automation & DevOps

• Promote Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Design CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate deployment and operational processes.
• Establish monitoring and logging frameworks.

Stakeholder Management

• Engage executive leadership and application owners.
• Provide migration status reporting and executive updates.
• Facilitate architecture reviews and governance meetings.
• Mentor engineering and operations teams.

Experience

• IT infrastructure and cloud architecture experience.
• AWS architecture experience.
• Led migration of 100+ enterprise applications to AWS.
• Experience managing large migration programs involving multiple stakeholders.
• Strong experience with application dependency mapping and migration waves.
