About the Role Our client is seeking a detail-oriented
Quality Engineer to join a fast-paced team supporting financial and regulated systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in test automation, backend validation, API testing, SQL-based data verification, and compliance-focused quality assurance. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, accounting, controls, and audit stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant software solutions.
Key Responsibilities - Design and execute functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional test plans across complex financial workflows.
- Validate financial calculations, data integrity, and reconciliation between transactional and reporting systems using SQL.
- Translate business, technical, compliance, and SOX requirements into comprehensive test cases.
- Test role-based access controls, maker-checker workflows, segregation-of-duties controls, and negative user scenarios.
- Perform API testing to validate integrations, workflow processing, and system behavior.
- Validate event-driven architectures, including message delivery, processing order, idempotency, and error handling.
- Ensure audit events are accurately generated, captured, and stored for controlled state changes across UI, APIs, and batch processes.
- Test inbound and outbound integrations with third-party systems, ensuring schema compliance, completeness, and reconciliation.
- Create audit-ready documentation, including test plans, test results, defect reports, and evidence packages.
- Track and manage defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
- Generate and manage test data required for validation activities.
- Analyze logs, query databases, and troubleshoot issues across application, integration, and data layers.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, release readiness reviews, and production support activities.
- Contribute to QA process improvements, best practices, and testing standards.
Required Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or Test Engineering.
- Experience supporting financial, fintech, banking, accounting, or other highly regulated systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience using pytest for automation testing.
- Strong experience in test automation and CI/CD integration.
- Advanced SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation, and backend testing.
- Experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman, REST-assured, or similar technologies.
- Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls testing, segregation-of-duties controls, and maker-checker workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to produce clear, comprehensive, and audit-ready documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, business, and audit teams.
