Summary

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is partner-tracking a high-impact technical leadership vacancy stemming from a planned retirement. We are seeking a visionary Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Specialist to anchor the safety, stability, and operational performance of a major continuous-process manufacturing plant.

In this role, you will step into the spotlight as the facility''s chief technical authority on control systems, automation, and electrical infrastructure. This is a rare chance to inherit a legacy position, put your stamp on site-wide reliability strategies, and directly drive capital initiatives that secure long-term asset integrity.

What You’ll Do

  • Champion site-wide asset dependability by spearheading predictive and preventive upkeep frameworks for all automation, control, and heavy power systems.

  • Architect and execute technical solutions for complex plant malfunctions, delivering rapid troubleshooting intervention for distributed control architectures and localized plant machinery.

  • Drive continuous improvements through Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), transforming post-incident investigations into permanent engineering remedies.

  • Validate safety integrity by actively participating in Process Safety Management (PSM) audits, hazard analyses, and high-level risk assessment panels.

  • Synthesize engineering designs and project blueprints, reviewing all outsourced modifications to guarantee strict alignment with standard corporate operating procedures.

  • Authorize plant alterations via the Management of Change (MOC) process, verifying software modifications, coordinating staff training, and updating corresponding operational records.

  • Maximize electrical grid resilience, acting as the primary grid engineering representative to external utility providers and managing infrastructure ranging from substations and transformers down to variable frequency drives (VFDs) and field sensors.

  • Supervise the transition of new capital assets, directing Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), loop validations, and final plant startup protocols.

  • Track operational health by developing, maintaining, and reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs) focused squarely on equipment up-time and maintenance efficiency.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience: 4 to 20 years of dedicated experience in industrial control systems, instrumentation, or electrical reliability roles within heavy manufacturing. Continuous-process environments (such as petrochemical, chemical, or refining operations) are highly preferred.

  • Technical Mastery: Proven familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ladder logic programming, control loops, and integrated Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).

  • Industry Standards: Functional command of core safety and design frameworks, including ANSI, API, ISA, NEC, and NFPA guidelines (formal NFPA 70E training or professional certification like an EIT/PE is an advantage).

  • Documentation Skills: Expert capability reading and updating critical plant documentation, including P&IDs, wiring schematics, and single-line layout diagrams.

  • Leadership Attributes: Stellar organizational and cross-functional communication abilities, with an established track record of guiding third-party contractors and handling multiple high-priority deliverables simultaneously.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Core Compensation: Generous base salary ranging between $160,000 and $190,000 annually, positioned at the top of the local market standard based on background.

  • Performance & Equity Incentives: Annual performance-driven bonus potential target of 20%, directly linked to individual achievements and plant optimization metrics.

  • Health & Wellness Perks: Complete medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance packages, alongside comprehensive mental health resources and wellness support programs.

  • Future Planning: Robust 401(k) retirement blueprint featuring corporate matching, corporate-sponsored life insurance, and potential professional development or tuition reimbursement options.

  • Work-Life Balance: Expansive paid time off (PTO) allocation for vacations and personal days, dedicated parental leave allowances, and structured on-site stability supported by relocation assistance for candidates outside the immediate commuting region.
