Technical Lead (Salesforce)
Role Summary
The Technical Lead (Salesforce) provides strategic and hands-on technical leadership for the design, implementation, and evolution of Salesforce solutions, with a strong focus on higher education use cases and Education Cloud. This role balances deep platform expertise with product-oriented decision-making, vendor oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure scalable, secure, and integration-aware CRM solutions aligned with institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities
Salesforce Platform Architecture & Development
• Design, configure, and customize Salesforce solutions using flows, validation rules, and complex automation.
• Develop scalable, secure data models and permission structures aligned with governance standards.
• Guide Salesforce release management, environment strategy, and DevOps practices.
• Review and validate vendor-delivered technical designs and code.
Education Cloud & Higher Education Solutions
• Lead Salesforce implementations in higher education environments.
• Architect solutions using Education Cloud (formerly EDA) for recruitment, admissions, advising, and student services.
• Ensure compliance with FERPA, data privacy, and institutional data governance requirements.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders.
Technical Leadership & Governance
• Lead and mentor Salesforce system administrators and business analysts.
• Establish technical standards, best practices, and architectural guardrails.
• Perform code reviews, solution validation, and quality assurance.
• Translate business requirements into technical direction.
Implementation Vendor Oversight
• Partner with Salesforce implementation vendors.
• Validate vendor solution designs against strategic goals and user needs.
• Ensure deliverables align with internal standards and long-term maintainability.
• Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Confidently challenge vendor recommendations when misaligned with institutional priorities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
• Collaborate with Project Managers on scope, timelines, and dependencies.
• Coordinate with Organizational Change Management teams on adoption and training.
• Partner with service delivery leadership on prioritization and roadmap alignment.
• Evaluate enhancement requests against strategic objectives and technical sustainability.
• Clearly communicate tradeoffs and recommendations.
Integrations & Enterprise Systems
• Apply systems thinking to balance immediate needs with long-term platform health.
• Collaborate with enterprise integration teams.
• Assess integration impacts on CRM design and performance.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of Salesforce experience, including large-scale implementations.
• Salesforce certifications demonstrating platform expertise.
