BASIC FUNCTION
Set-up / troubleshooting, repair and maintenance with experience in machine-based manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED
- Read highly technical blueprints and interpret specifications, operation manuals for parts and machines
- Start up production machines: periodically check to ensure machine set points are accurate
- Set up and operate machine manually or computer system to produce precision metal parts / tools
- Identify die damage; trouble shoot machinery and communicate with manufacturer to resolve issues.
- Understand and follow the production schedule while maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the die shop
- Able to set up and disassemble all Dies; calculate dimensions to create new products
- Ability to use milling machines, grinders, and hand tools to very close tolerances accuracy within .0001 of an inch
- Operate power tools as well as working with hand tools such as files and honing stones
- File & grind parts to precision accuracy
- Polish surfaces of tools and die; clean all die components
- Inspect / test completed product
- Keep running inventory of all parts and order more when needed
- Flexibility to run machines when not needed to repair machines
- Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules
- Responsible to follow all safety protocol including LOTO as well as correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Five years of related experience in one or more of the following areas: machinery tool & die, electrical repairs including industrial equipment, controls, and facility; mechanical repairs; and/or welding. One or more of the five years must include overall general maintenance. Equivalent combination of education and experience in one or more of these areas will be considered. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret AutoCad drawings.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, and/or factory reps.
MATH ABILITY
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to read and use all measuring equipment including but not limited to (tape rules, micrometers.)
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic PC knowledge working knowledge of AutoCad desirable.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
Successful completion of a machinist training program preferred.
Welding or any other type of related certificates and /or licenses preferred.
Forklift license required. Must be able to obtain within three (3) months
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
