Job Description

AutoZone is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Memphis, TN. This role will work closely with cross-functional engineering and product teams to design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available systems supporting supply chain and retail operations. The ideal candidate will contribute across the full systems development lifecycle, support cloud-based applications, and enhance system reliability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

Participate in all phases of the systems development life cycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
Ensure that applications are running efficiently, optimally, and reliably in cloud-based environments.
Design, develop, support, and maintain integration solutions for high-volume data exchange.
Collaborate with development teams to identify inefficiencies and application limitations.
Support projects and initiatives that evolve system functionality to meet business requirements.
Develop APIs, microservices, and middleware solutions.
Create monitoring dashboards, metrics, and alerts using tools like Dynatrace and OpenTelemetry.
Perform on-call support including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Implement CI/CD pipelines leveraging Kubernetes.
Optimize application and API performance using caching and asynchronous techniques.
Ensure security compliance for applications and infrastructure.
Develop unit, functional, and automated test cases.
Maintain system documentation including UML diagrams and API specs.
Collaborate across teams to design and implement technical solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Minimum 3 years of proven experience in Java and Spring framework including Spring Boot.
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry and Dynatrace.
Minimum 1 year of experience with messaging middleware utilizing JMS including Pub/Sub.
Experience working on Agile project methodologies.
Design, develop, support, and maintain integration solutions for high-volume applications.
Evaluate business and technical requirements to design scalable architectures.
Must be available for on-call rotation.
Skilled in Swagger and OpenAPI for API documentation.
Ability to create system design documentation including UML diagrams and API specs.
In-depth understanding of Microservices and SOA architecture.
Experience improving API performance using caching, compression, and async processing.
Proficiency with Kafka and messaging systems.
Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, AlloyDB).
Experience with NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Redis).
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for CI/CD.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform cloud.
Strong SQL query experience.
Knowledge of Unix commands and scripting using Shell and Python.
Experience with Akamai CDN and caching.
Experience using SonarQube for code quality.
Experience configuring application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere).
Experience with API gateways such as Apigee.
Experience with Liquibase for DB versioning.
Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
