Overview
Our client, a leading organization in the Oil & Energy sector, is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support their enterprise IT environment. This position is a critical backfill for a long-tenured team member and requires a consultant who can step in quickly and operate with minimal oversight.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing Linux environments in a production setting, with the ability to support day-to-day operations, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system stability. This role will operate within a hybrid infrastructure, requiring some exposure to Windows environments while maintaining a primary focus on Linux systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain Linux systems to ensure performance, stability, and uptime across the environment
  • Monitor and support batch processing workflows, including job scheduling and data movement into ActiveBatch
  • Troubleshoot system issues, including failed jobs, data transfer errors, and backend process interruptions
  • Monitor database dumps and interface activity, proactively identifying and resolving issues
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate backend processes and improve operational efficiency
  • Support backend ERP processes, including integrations and interfaces with external systems such as Salesforce
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure continuity of operations across a hybrid Linux/Windows environment
Requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration in a production environment
  • Deep understanding of Linux OS fundamentals, system performance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience writing and maintaining shell scripts for automation and process support
  • Ability to read and understand code across multiple languages to troubleshoot system logic and integrations
  • Experience working in environments that require high availability and operational stability
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
  • Red Hat Certification (RHCSA or RHCE strongly preferred)
  • Experience with ActiveBatch or similar workload automation tools
  • Exposure to hybrid environments (Linux and Windows)
  • Experience supporting ERP systems and understanding backend integrations
  • Familiarity with data transfers, database dumps, and integrations with platforms such as Salesforce
