Overview:
TheDepartment of Veterans Affairs Network Operations Center (NOC)defends, manages, and monitors the network operating status and cyber security posture of the VA by providing the day-to-day management,monitoring,operations,and configuration of theTrustedInternetConnection (TIC)Gateways,the delivery of enterprise security systems and services, the conduct of threat and vulnerability analysis, the validation of adequate security controls within the enterprise,and the full range of functions across the spectrum of activities relating to incident management, incident response and enterprise network management.
Seeking an advanced MSSQL for 1st shift, full time work at the VA?s Network Security Operations Center (NSOC) in Martinsburg, WV, working for Service Design and Implementation and Portal Services.
This position is based Martinsburg, WV, and will be a hybrid remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, harden, patch, upgrade, maintain, and administer production and development MSSQL 2022 SQL instances.
- Perform logical and physical design, performance monitoring and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, database backup and recovery, and query optimization/tuning.
- Configure and maintain SQL Agent jobs, server audits, and SSIS packages.
- Configure and maintain Always on Availability Groups.
- Work closely with developers to design, develop, implement, and maintain new applications using MSSQL 2022.
- Write, debug, and maintain Power Shell scripts to automate administration tasks.
- Harden SQL instances per DISA, FISMA and GOV Best Practice STIGS.
- Configure and maintain Transparent Data Encryption and Secure Socket Layer Encryption.
- Configuring and administering MongoDB.
- Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications:
- Education / Experience: Bachelor?s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 12 years of experience. 8 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- Experience with MongoDB administration and set up in an enterprise environment
- PWS Specified Certifications: This position requires privileged system access. The applicant shall have six months to obtain ONE of the following industry standard certification.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or above
- Microsoft SQL Server Solutions Expert, Data Platform (MCSE) or above
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Database Administrator SQL 2016 (or greater)
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS).
- Miscellaneous: Duties may require traveling, Sits up to 6 hours per day using close vision, repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement (to operate computer equipment), lift up to 25 pounds
- Background Investigation: Must be able to pass a government Tier 2 Moderate Background Investigation
Posted Salary Range: USD $124,540.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
