At Supermicro We are seeking a talented and motivated Hardware Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this collaborative role, you will contribute to technology innovation and play a key part in the development of our in-house server motherboards. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and external partners to ensure robust, high-quality board designs throughout the product development lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
  • Provide timely customer support and travel as required to meet business needs.
  • Create clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including product specifications, user guidelines, test procedures, and other engineering documents.
  • Develop schematics, review PCB layouts, generate Bills of Materials (BOMs). Perform debugging and testing for backplanes, add-in cards, and server boards.
  • Conduct Design Verification Testing (DVT) using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory test equipment.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to achieve project objectives. Troubleshoot, and resolve design-related quality issues during the early stages of product development.
  • Support product transition to manufacturing by preparing complete production documentation and providing technical assistance to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in hardware design, PCB design, server platforms, or related electronic product development.
  • Ability to provide timely customer support and travel as required for business needs.
  • Strong understanding of Intel PC/server architecture and Windows/Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills; proficiency in English is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a self-motivated, team-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of digital, analog, and power circuit design, PCB layout, and signal integrity.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting and automated testing.

Salary Range

$110,000 - $130,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
