Overview
Client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join a critical initiative with a leading healthcare organization in the DMV region. In this role, you will play a key leadership part in driving the AWS cloud migration of a core enterprise application responsible for high-volume messaging and notification services. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your senior backend Java expertise and AWS skills to transition established legacy architectures into scalable cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute the technical application migration of core backend Java services to AWS cloud infrastructure.
Analyze existing architecture, business logic, and enterprise messaging flows to ensure seamless migration and system stability.
Design and refine Spring-based web services, microservices, and database interactions supporting notification and messaging frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, data engineers, and cloud infrastructure groups during PI planning and bi-weekly collaboration sessions.
Ensure robust integration between legacy systems (IBM MQ, DB2) and target cloud services.
Required Qualifications
12+ years of professional software development experience in backend Java, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, and Microservices.
3+ years of dedicated hands-on experience with AWS cloud migration projects.
Demonstrated experience with enterprise messaging queue architectures (IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS).
Solid database experience with DB2 (Mainframe/UDB) and/or MongoDB.
Proven track record of developing and integrating RESTful Web Services and microservices.
Local to the DMV region (or approved states) with absolute availability for a 1-round in-person interview and hybrid on-site schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certifications (Developer, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer).
Hands-on familiarity with AWS cloud services such as AWS Lambda, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
Prior experience working on notification, messaging, email, or text service architectures.
Background in healthcare claims or healthcare business logic.
