OVERVIEW:This role leads enterprise data governance and strategy execution by coordinating policies, standards, and cross-functional alignment critical to enterprise data outcomes. A core responsibility is establishing and managing
enterprise data working groups to convene data owners, stewards, officers, and specialists to resolve data issues requiring bank-wide consensus.
The role supports the advancement of
Enterprise Data Architecture (EDA) capabilities by organizing decision-making forums, facilitating alignment on data strategy, and ensuring decisions are operationalized, tracked, and reported.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:- Drive enterprise data strategy execution by establishing and facilitating data working groups when cross-enterprise alignment is required
- Convene appropriate stakeholders to make informed decisions on data standards, priorities, ownership, and remediation
- Determine when to stand up new forums versus leveraging existing governance structures
- Translate complex data problems into actionable governance, policy, and operating solutions
- Ensure enterprise data decisions are documented, tracked, and embedded into ongoing operating models
- Lead development and maintenance of enterprise data management policies and standards, including metadata, data quality, data retention, classification, privacy, and access controls
- Partner with data product, platform, and business teams to implement and monitor adherence to enterprise data standards
- Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, and internal control requirements while escalating issues as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experience
Experience analyzing data and draw valid conclusions
Experience completing data research using industry standard research methods
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:Intermediate knowledge of data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilities
Experience developing and/or implementing data management and/or data governance policy and standards with limited oversight
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $103,000.00 - $171,600.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
