Summary

Senior Product Manager, Chemicals

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a Senior Product Manager, Chemicals on behalf of a multi-billion-dollar global technology leader in its segment of the chemical industry. The company is known for supporting both the personal and professional sides of a career, with a modern team culture, a strong focus on work/life balance, and real exposure and growth. This full-time position is based about 30 minutes north of New York City in a hybrid arrangement that includes some work from home, with strong paid relocation available.

The Senior Product Manager, Chemicals will manage the full product line portfolio to keep material available and support growth goals. The role spans the lifecycle of domestic and imported products, including new product registration (NPR), commercialization readiness, production scale-up, raw material planning, and launch readiness. It blends classic product management with substantial supply chain, plant coordination, and operational execution responsibilities.

You will partner closely with Business Directors and Sales Managers on market opportunities, customer needs, growth initiatives, competitive positioning, and strategy, providing analysis of existing and emerging technologies and helping shape product introductions, rationalization decisions, and long-term portfolio plans. You will also own budgeting, forecasting, demand planning, inventory management, and fulfillment to keep reporting accurate, products available, and customers satisfied. As the central link between Sales, Business Directors, Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Customer Service, you will turn commercial goals into operational execution and work directly with the plant to align production capability, materials, scheduling, quality, inventory, and customer commitments.

What You'll Do

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Advance portfolio priorities, new product registration, commercialization, and scale-up across assigned business units.
  • Coordinate Sales, Technical, Product Development, Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing, and Operations to develop, launch, supply, and rationalize products.
  • Align product plans with customer needs, market opportunities, and business goals alongside Business Directors and Sales Managers.

Fulfillment, Forecasting, and Supply

  • Own demand planning for all product lines, blending forecasts, actual sales, customer needs, inventory, capacity, and supply constraints.
  • Track production schedules, inventory, orders, and constraints, and communicate risks and recovery plans.
  • Manage supply for domestic and export customers, including products sourced from or supplied to affiliated companies.
  • Set inventory, safety stock, and replenishment levels that protect service while limiting excess.
  • Join demand-sensing and month-end reviews and execute tactical product line actions that support growth.

Supply Chain and Plant Coordination

  • Serve as the main commercial contact with the plant and manufacturing team.
  • Translate demand and commercial priorities into production, purchasing, import inventory, and logistics plans.
  • Prioritize production campaigns with Manufacturing to improve fulfillment and forecast accuracy.
  • Take part in plant production, inventory, and supply-planning reviews and resolve operational issues affecting customers.

Inventory and Master Data

  • Manage inventory across all product lines, including slow-moving, excess, obsolete, expired, damaged, and off-spec material.
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) reviews and build disposition, reduction, and rebalancing plans with cross-functional partners.

Customer Service Leadership

  • Directly lead Customer Service staff, covering staffing, workload, training, development, performance, and procedures.
  • Align Customer Service priorities with product line, supply chain, plant, logistics, and commercial needs.
  • Deliver accurate orders, timely availability and delivery updates, backlog control, and effective escalation of customer issues.
  • Resolve order, supply, production, quality, and delivery issues with Sales, Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Quality.
  • Define and track service metrics for order accuracy, cycle time, response time, backlog, on-time delivery, resolution, and satisfaction.
  • Improve order execution, customer communication, and escalation handling.

Leadership

  • Supervise Product Managers, Assistant Product Managers, Product Specialists, Customer Service staff, and other assigned team members.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed, maintain prompt and dependable attendance, and take on other assignments from management.

What You Bring

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a chemical-related business, specifically in Supply Chain, Product Management, or Planning
  • College degree in business or a technology-related field
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially Excel
  • Required SAP experience (SAP S/4HANA preferred)
  • Ability to perform Sales Data Analysis (historical, forecast, and budget; quantity, revenue, price, and gross margin) and recommend supply actions
  • Direct customer experience, including customer and prospect Presentations
  • Strong Data Management, Problem Solving, and Negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams across Sales, Manufacturing, Planning, Customer Service, and Logistics, and to understand Manufacturing Processes
  • Cross-Cultural Communication, with the ability to work across Japanese and American cultures
  • Strategic Thinking, team focus, creativity, clear verbal and written communication, organization, results orientation, Time Management, influence across departments, and sales fundamentals
  • At least 6 months in your current position
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Salary: $123,000 - $153,000 (depending on experience)
  • Bonus: sign-on bonus, plus 8-12% annual bonus potential
  • Engagement: Full-time, direct hire; hybrid, about 30 minutes north of New York City
