The Enterprise AI Platforms Team creates the platforms, products, and governance that power enterprise AI. Our team enables rapid experimentation, seamless deployment, and responsible operation of AI systems at scale - delivering trusted, compliant, and high-performance AI solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes, partnering with stakeholders to support use cases from inception to implementation.

As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will partner with American Express business units, product teams, and enterprise customers to identify high-value opportunities for Generative AI and intelligent automation. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions that improve customer experiences, accelerate operations, and enable data-driven decision making.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, solution architecture, consulting, and AI innovation-translating business challenges into secure, scalable production solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI, cloud platforms, and enterprise data.

Responsibilities

As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will partner with American Express business units, product teams, and enterprise customers to identify high-value opportunities for Generative AI and intelligent automation. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions that improve customer experiences, accelerate operations, and enable data-driven decision making.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, solution architecture, consulting, and AI innovation-translating business challenges into secure, scalable production solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI, cloud platforms, and enterprise data.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering or solution architecture experience.

  • Experience building cloud-native applications using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with REST APIs, containers, CI/CD, and distributed systems.

  • Experience delivering enterprise solutions with strong customer-facing communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source LLMs.

  • Experience with RAG, vector databases, AI agents, LangChain, LangGraph, Llama Index, or MCP-based integrations.

  • Knowledge of MLOps, model evaluation, observability, and AI governance.

  • Experience working within financial services or highly regulated industries.
