Network Engineer – Enterprise Network Modernization
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
Contract to Hire

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize scalable enterprise network solutions.
  • Architect and modernize data center networks using Spine-Leaf architecture, Cisco Nexus, VXLAN, and EVPN.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot advanced routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Support distributed and cloud-managed networking environments, including SD-WAN, switching, wireless networking, and Cisco Meraki.
  • Contribute to enterprise network modernization roadmaps and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and implement network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability using tools such as SolarWinds, Grafana, Prometheus, and Wireshark.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and support production incident resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with modern data center network architecture, including Spine-Leaf, Cisco Nexus, VXLAN, and EVPN.
  • Advanced knowledge of BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
  • Experience supporting distributed and cloud-managed networking environments, SD-WAN, wireless networking, and switching.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code using Python, Ansible, and/or Terraform.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production incident management skills.
  • Experience with high availability, network resilience, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of virtualization, containerization, load balancing, firewalls, network security, DDoS protection, and enterprise security concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with networking services and architectures in Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as SolarWinds, Grafana, Prometheus, and Wireshark.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise network modernization strategies and roadmaps.
  • Previous experience providing technical leadership and mentoring network engineering teams.
  • Relevant networking certifications, such as CCNP or CCIE.
