Summary

General Statement of Duties

Employee will be responsible for installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting network switches & Routers, as well as wireless access points, throughout the School District. Must be self-motivated, have a superior work ethic and the ability to communicate and work with others. Will be required to work in all HCPS schools and administrative sites, while interacting with both Staff and Students daily. This position is open until filled.

Minimum Salary $72,060.37, or subject to HCPS promotion policy. (Note: Salary will be prorated based on employment start date).

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

Installs, configures, upgrades, maintains, and replaces Cisco network switches and Routers.
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots Meraki wireless access points throughout HCPS.
Works with other HCPS Departments, Vendor Partners, and Contractors on various projects.
Resolves routine, network hardware issues.
Verifies and ensures stability, scalability, and interoperability of Ethernet & Wireless networks.
Creates and maintains accurate documentation, paper and electronic records including current work order system.
Maintains a working knowledge of hardware, software and peripherals used by HCPS.
Attends all scheduled training and meeting required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Requires basic knowledge of LAN/WAN design and management theory and practice.
Requires basic understanding of data cabling infrastructure and fiber optic distribution systems.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Possesses a working knowledge of Internet backbone connectivity.
Knowledge and understanding of the layers of the OSI Model and how they interact with one another.
Basic working knowledge and understanding of a standard end-user's operational needs.
Strong computer skills with good problem solving/troubleshooting skills and the ability to synthesize data provided by end users.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences in a user-friendly language.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to understand, create and maintain accurate technical documentation.
Ability to work independently and recognize when to elevate issues for guidance or resolution.
Must positively and appropriately represent HCPS and the Department of Technology.
Minimum 2 years' experience in the use and administration of networking-related equipment preferred.
Requires a valid VA driver's license to provide support at various locations across the HCPS School District using personal vehicle.
