Role: SES Senior Manager (Safety, Environmental & Sustainability)

Location: 781 Lansdowne St. West Peterborough Ontario CAN K9J 1Z2(Onsite)

Duration: 03 months Contract

Position Overview:

The SES Senior Manager will drive the development and implementation of safety, health, environmental, sustainability, and management system programs and processes at the facility, supporting both operational excellence and strategic objectives. This hybrid role bridges comprehensive hands-on program management with leadership and compliance oversight, acting as a key connector between plant operations and organizational leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with CEPA and CCOHS
  • Develop, implement, manage, and continuously improve a robust safety, environmental, and sustainability program to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe, healthy workplace.
  • Facilitate and guide the risk assessment process (FMEA, Health & Safety Risks, Environmental Aspects and Impacts) to identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational risks.
  • Conduct or respond to health and safety hazard assessments and analyses within the facility, collaborating with teams to address findings and reduce workplace risks.
  • Oversee and participate in incident investigations, follow-up on corrective actions, and ensure completion and documentation for compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and conduct SES procedure and management system-related training modules for multiple staff levels (New Hire, Annual Review, Specialty, Contractor, Management).
  • Lead and coordinate sustainability initiatives in line with corporate goals, promoting environmentally responsible practices and waste reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, leading the PSM team in implementing best practice strategies.
  • Track, review, and approve wastewater and other environmental quality designs and compliance efforts to meet or exceed regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Support and oversee the management of audits, facility inspections, and compliance reviews, following up with corrective action plans.
  • Serve as a resource and coach to facility teams, developing and supporting safety culture engagement, communications, and improvement projects.
  • Prepare and present SES performance metrics, improvement initiatives, and compliance updates to facility leadership and regional management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required. Master s degree preferred but not mandatory.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in safety, environmental, or sustainability management in a manufacturing or industrial environment; some experience in a leadership, team lead, or supervisory role required.
  • Demonstrated expertise with regulatory compliance (CCOHS, CEPA, etc.), PSM, and management systems such as ISO 14001.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and practical application.
  • Strong project management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc. preferred.
