Summary

Title - Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Designer


Salary - $100K $125K



Day to Day:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Develop plumbing and fire protection designs from initial concept through final construction documents.



  • Create and coordinate Revit models, AutoCAD drawings, layouts, schedules, and technical documentation.



  • Design domestic water, sanitary waste, storm drainage, natural gas, and other plumbing systems.



  • Develop fire protection layouts, including sprinkler and standpipe systems.



  • Conduct field surveys of existing facilities and recommend system upgrades or renovations.



  • Coordinate piping, equipment layouts, and system requirements with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural teams.



  • Review construction drawings, contractor submittals, and RFIs while supporting project quality and deadlines.



Must Haves:



  • 10+ years of plumbing and fire protection design experience within an engineering consulting, architectural/engineering, or similar environment.



  • Strong experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings.



  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, including developing coordinated construction drawings and models.



  • Strong knowledge of building, plumbing, and fire protection codes, including IBC, IPC, NFPA 13, and NFPA 14.



  • Experience designing plumbing systems, sprinkler/standpipe layouts, and performing field surveys of existing facilities.



  • Ability to independently develop designs and collaborate with engineers, project managers, clients, and contractors.



Plusses:



  • Experience designing systems for industrial manufacturing, pharmaceutical, laboratory, healthcare, or higher-education facilities.



  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers.



  • Familiarity with FM Global Standards.



  • Experience performing fire protection hydraulic calculations.



  • Proficiency with fire protection design and calculation software.
