Cloudflare Architect with Akamai Migration Expertise
Basic Knowledge Required
- Clear understanding of OSI Model, TCP/IP stack, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and application delivery concepts.
- Strong knowledge of CDN architectures, caching technologies, traffic routing, SSL/TLS, and web application security principles.
- Good understanding of Akamai Property Manager, Akamai CDN services, Kona WAF, and Cloudflare CDN & WAF offerings.
- Knowledge of application architecture, origin infrastructure, load balancing, and network security concepts.
- Familiarity with traffic analysis, packet capture tools, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Work Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in CDN, WAF, application delivery, and web application security technologies.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Cloudflare CDN and WAF implementations.
- Strong experience in Akamai to Cloudflare migration assessments, architecture design, and migration planning.
- Experience in designing Cloudflare architectures, migration strategies, cutover approaches, and rollback methodologies.
- Experience working with enterprise-scale web applications, CDN optimization, and WAF security controls.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment and architecture design activities for migrating applications from Akamai to Cloudflare.
- Define target-state CDN and WAF architecture, migration strategy, and implementation approach.
- Review and map Akamai configurations to equivalent Cloudflare services and capabilities.
- Provide technical governance, architecture reviews, migration oversight, and stakeholder guidance.
- Support cutover planning, risk mitigation, stabilization, and knowledge transfer activities
