Technical Sales Engineer
Location: Hudson, NY

Compensation: $80,000–$110,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Travel: 25–50% (primarily regional)

 

Position Overview

The Technical Sales Engineer will serve as a critical bridge between customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams. This individual will identify new business opportunities, support prospective projects with technical insight, and help deliver customized, value-driven solutions that align with client needs and manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

·                  Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities by sourcing and supporting custom polymer manufacturing solutions

·                  Serve as a technical expert during the sales process, clearly demonstrating manufacturing capabilities and process advantages to prospective clients

·                  Build, manage, and strengthen long-term client relationships to drive customer satisfaction and repeat business

·                  Travel to customer sites to provide consultative support and personalized service

·                  Partner closely with Engineering and internal stakeholders to develop accurate, competitive pricing, quotes, and proposals

·                  Meet and exceed sales goals by tracking performance metrics and adjusting strategies as needed

·                  Anticipate technical, sales, and manufacturing risks while contributing to mitigation strategies

·                  Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and follow-through

·                  Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Experience

·                  Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)

·                  5–7 years of progressive experience in technical sales, project engineering, or a customer-facing engineering role

·                  Working knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes and mold fabrication is strongly preferred

·                  Familiarity with polymer materials and their applications

·                  Experience collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams

 

Required Skills & Competencies

·                  Strong understanding of material flow and MRP/ERP systems

·                  Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, MS Project; design/visualization tools a plus)

·                  Proven project management and organizational skills

·                  Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities

·                  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment

·                  Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and influence others

 

Physical Requirements

This role involves light physical activity, including occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs), standing, walking, and the ability to perform routine movements associated with office, manufacturing, and customer-site environments.
