Senior VBA / MS Access Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior VBA / MS Access Developer to support a strategic application modernization and migration initiative within a large banking and financial services organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing application dependencies, refactoring legacy components, and redesigning integrations to support a hybrid operating model across cloud and on-premises environments.

This role requires strong expertise in VBA development, Microsoft Access, SQL Server 2022, and Stored Procedures, along with experience working with complex enterprise applications and data-intensive systems.

 Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing VBA applications, MS Access databases, and SQL Server components to identify dependencies and integration points.
• Design and implement solutions to decouple tightly integrated application components and services.
• Refactor and optimize VBA code to improve maintainability, scalability, and performance.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain SQL Server 2022 databases, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
• Collaborate with solution architects, infrastructure teams, business analysts, and application owners to define future-state designs.
• Perform impact assessments and dependency analysis for migration and modernization initiatives.
• Design and implement interfaces between applications operating across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and data integration issues.
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support guides.
• Support unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing activities.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Provide production support and assist with deployment and release activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• 8+ years of experience in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) development.
• Strong experience developing and supporting Microsoft Access applications.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2022.
• Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, Triggers, and Query Performance Tuning.
• Experience analyzing and refactoring legacy applications.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, system dependencies, and data flows.
• Experience integrating applications across multiple environments.
• Familiarity with source control systems and software development lifecycle processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
