We are seeking an experienced IDMS Database Administrator with strong mainframe expertise to support modernization initiatives within IBM Modern Systems. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of IDMS database operations, COBOL programming, and mainframe environments, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and support migration efforts.

Required Skills & Experience:

15+ years of hands-on experience as an IDMS DBA
Strong understanding of:
- IDMS application architecture
- IDMS database usage and operations
- ADSO (Automatic Database Schema Object)
10+ years of experience with COBOL programming
Strong expertise in:
- COBOL / CICS / SQL development and debugging
Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Db2 / SQL performance tuning and application knowledge
- Data migration experience (especially mainframe modernization)
- Assembler / Macro language knowledge
- IMS DB/DC experience
- VSAM knowledge
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with clients to:
  - Understand IDMS concepts
  - Map and relate them to Db2/SQL-based solutions
- Support application modernization projects, including:
  - Troubleshooting converted COBOL code
  - Debugging internal COBOL frameworks that emulate IDMS behavior
- Perform root cause analysis and problem determination
- Provide fixes, enhancements, and recommendations
- Modify internal COBOL frameworks and processes as needed
- Document issues, solutions, and technical processes clearly
Additional Notes:
- This role requires proximity to an IBM office within the US for hybrid work compliance
- Candidates must be eligible to work on W2 within the United States
