Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to oversee daily field-service operations, lead technicians, coordinate scheduling and dispatch, and ensure exceptional customer service.

Our ideal candidate has experience in commercial overhead doors, loading docks, gates, elevators, commercial HVAC, mechanical service, industrial equipment repair, or a closely related commercial field-service industry.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who understands the technical and operational challenges of managing field technicians and commercial service customers.

What You'll Do

Lead, coach, and develop a team of field-service technicians performing commercial equipment repairs, maintenance, and installations.

Oversee daily technician scheduling, dispatch, work orders, and service priorities.

Coordinate emergency service calls, preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and customer requests.

Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to technicians in the field.

Monitor technician productivity, labor utilization, job costs, service margins, and operational KPIs.

Manage customer escalations, resolve service issues, and maintain strong commercial customer relationships.

Collaborate with parts, purchasing, sales, estimating, and installation teams to ensure timely service delivery.

Ensure technicians have the necessary equipment, materials, training, and resources to complete jobs successfully.

Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and employee development.

Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Identify opportunities to improve dispatch efficiency, service response times, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Assist with preventative maintenance programs, recurring service agreements, and customer retention initiatives.

Maintain accurate service records, reporting, and operational documentation.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Proven experience as a Service Manager, Field Service Manager, Service Supervisor, Installation Manager, or similar technical operations leader.

Strong preference for experience in commercial overhead doors, loading docks, gates, elevators, commercial HVAC, mechanical service, or comparable commercial equipment service industries.

Demonstrated experience directly managing field-service technicians, installation crews, or technical service personnel.

Strong understanding of technician scheduling, dispatch, service calls, repairs, maintenance, and field operations.

Ability to provide technical troubleshooting guidance and support to field technicians.

Experience monitoring labor hours, technician productivity, service profitability, or operational KPIs.

Strong customer service skills, including resolving escalations and managing commercial customer relationships.

Proven ability to hire, train, coach, and develop employees.

Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Valid driver's license and driving record meeting applicable company requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience with commercial overhead doors, dock levelers, dock seals, dock shelters, or automated gate systems.

Background as a field technician, lead technician, or technical supervisor before transitioning into management.

Experience managing commercial HVAC, elevator, industrial equipment, or mechanical service technicians.

Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and recurring commercial service agreements.

Experience with NetSuite, ServiceTitan, or other field-service management and ERP platforms.

OSHA certification or formal workplace safety training.

Experience managing service department budgets, labor utilization, profitability, and operational reporting.

Strong relationships with commercial facilities, property managers, industrial customers, or contractors.

What Success Looks Like

You start your morning reviewing the dispatch schedule and making sure the right technicians are assigned to the right jobs.

When a technician encounters a difficult repair, you're comfortable helping troubleshoot the issue and identifying the best solution.

You understand how labor hours, service response times, job profitability, and customer satisfaction impact the success of your department.

Most importantly, you're a leader who develops technicians, takes ownership of problems, and keeps operations moving.

Career Growth

Successful Service Managers may have opportunities to advance into Branch Manager, General Manager, or regional operations leadership as the organization continues to expand.

If you're an experienced commercial service leader looking for more ownership, autonomy, and career growth, we'd love to connect!

Compensation: Competitive base salary with potential additional compensation and benefits. The advertised salary range represents base compensation only and does not include additional compensation perks.
