What You Will Do:

The Engineering Intern supports the Maintenance and Production departments to ensure the efficient and timely production of quality products. This hands-on role provides exposure to real-world engineering challenges and opportunities to apply classroom learning in a manufacturing environment. The intern collaborates closely with team members, supervisors, management, and external vendors to develop and enhance safety, quality, and delivery processes. This position requires a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work in both office and plant floor environments.

What You Will Need:
  • Actively enrolled in a BS degree program in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred)
  • Entering junior year or beyond
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to document technical work
  • Demonstrated team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Proactive and self-motivated approach

Major Responsibility Areas and Duties:
  • Assist in troubleshooting production and maintenance issues to identify root causes and propose improvements
  • Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures and process documentation
  • Participate in capital projects, including equipment installation and layout improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, quality, and delivery outcomes
  • Conduct process audits and inspections, documenting findings and recommendations
  • Identify inefficiencies in workflows and assist in implementing Lean and Six Sigma initiatives
  • Perform data analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for technical evaluations and support

Compensation:
  • $23.00 - $27.00 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience and educational background

Work Hours and Length of Program:
  • The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August
  • Full time, targeting 40 hours per week
  • Exact start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules and the needs of the business
  • This is a paid internship

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk up to 80% of the workday
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Must be able to climb ladders for audits and inspections
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment

Environmental Conditions:
Work is split between office and manufacturing plant floor environments. Exposure to typical plant conditions including noise, heat, and moving machinery.
