Overview / Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer with 6+ years of backend development experience and strong expertise in PHP and Adobe Commerce/Magento 2. This role requires hands-on experience with Magento APIs, GraphQL, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud-native services, performance optimization, automated testing, CI/CD, and production support. The engineer will also mentor team members and partner closely with the Architect on implementation decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build and extend Magento APIs, GraphQL resolvers, modules, services, plugins, observers, cron jobs, and message-queue consumers.
- Build REST/GraphQL APIs and service layers that decouple frontend applications from Magento and other backend systems.
- Integrate with catalog, pricing, inventory, promotions, customer/identity, PIM, ERP, and OMS platforms.
- Implement and support event-driven architecture and messaging using RabbitMQ or similar asynchronous messaging platforms.
- Work with AWS/cloud-native services, caching, databases, queues, observability, and distributed-system troubleshooting.
- Address Magento performance considerations, including indexing, database load, caching, asynchronous processing, and high-volume catalog/order workloads.
- Build middleware/adapters that map new commerce services into existing Magento GraphQL/API contracts during a phased migration.
- Perform automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, debugging, and production support.
- Serve as a senior hands-on technical lead and mentor engineers.
- Partner closely with the Architect on implementation decisions.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of backend development experience.
- Strong PHP and Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 expertise.
- Deep experience with Magento APIs, GraphQL resolvers, modules, services, plugins, observers, cron jobs, and message-queue consumers.
- Strong experience building REST/GraphQL APIs and service layers.
- Experience integrating with catalog, pricing, inventory, promotions, customer/identity, PIM, ERP, and OMS platforms.
- Strong event-driven architecture and messaging experience, preferably with RabbitMQ or similar asynchronous messaging platforms.
- Experience with AWS/cloud-native services, caching, databases, queues, observability, and distributed-system troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Magento performance, including indexing, database load, caching, asynchronous processing, and high-volume catalog/order workloads.
- Experience building middleware/adapters for phased commerce migrations.
- Strong automated testing, CI/CD, code-review, debugging, and production-support experience.
- Ability to work as a senior hands-on technical lead, mentor engineers, and partner with an Architect.
In compliance with the salary transparency law, the expected salary range for this role is $120k -125k/Annum. Actual compensation depends on experience and interview evaluation
