Description
We are looking for a skilled Network Administrator to join our team in Oberlin, Ohio. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to manage and support network and server infrastructure within a dynamic university setting. The role is ideal for an individual with strong attention to detail, hands-on experience in Windows Server environments, network security, and backup systems, and who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Administer and monitor Windows Server environments, ensuring system performance, user access, and regular patch updates.
Manage and support portions of the campus network infrastructure, including routing and switching.
Maintain backup and recovery systems, with a focus on Veeam technologies.
Implement and oversee network security measures, including firewall operations using Palo Alto technologies.
Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, and infrastructure issues across the campus.
Collaborate with IT team members, including network administrators, systems administrators, and network technicians.
Document system configurations, procedures, and updates to ensure operational consistency.
Partner with IT managers to address escalations and contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives.
Support the enhancement of network reliability and operational stability through proactive measures.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, or similar role.
Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
Hands-on experience with backup solutions such as Veeam.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with enterprise firewall technologies, such as Palo Alto.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based IT environment.
Strong documentation and communication skills to support system clarity.
Exposure to hybrid IT environments and experience in higher education or public sector is a plus.
