Summary

Job Description

The Sr. Director - Engineering (Advise/Consult) is responsible for enabling the organization to deliver high-impact GenAI solutions through a consultative, advisory, and enablement model. This role partners with product teams, engineering leaders, and the Data & Analytics organization to shape GenAI use-case strategy, accelerate delivery with reusable patterns and reference implementations, and ensure solutions meet standards for security, privacy, reliability, and Responsible AI.

This leader operates as an internal engineering consultant and "force multiplier"-helping teams make sound technical decisions, assess readiness, structure delivery plans, and adopt best practices across the lifecycle (discovery prototype production scale).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead GenAI advisory engagements end-to-end: intake, discovery, solution shaping, and delivery recommendations to help product/engineering teams move from idea prototype production.
  • Provide technical consulting and decision support on GenAI approaches (e.g., RAG vs. fine-tuning, orchestration/agents, model/vendor selection), architecture tradeoffs, and delivery plans.
  • Define and scale reusable GenAI patterns and "golden paths": reference architectures, templates/SDKs, implementation playbooks, and engineering standards that accelerate adoption across teams.
  • Partner closely with Data & Analytics to ensure data readiness and alignment: governed data access, quality/lineage, knowledge base strategy (indexing/retrieval), and shared measurement/telemetry.
  • Embed Responsible AI, security, and privacy-by-design: guardrails, evaluation/safety testing, red-teaming support, risk reviews, and controls for sensitive data and vendor usage.
  • Establish a scalable operating model for the Studio's consult function: engagement prioritization, SLAs, governance checkpoints, stakeholder communications, and outcome tracking.
  • Build organizational capability through coaching and enablement: mentoring leaders, running workshops, creating communities of practice, and improving GenAI engineering maturity across the enterprise.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience with significant leadership at the Director/Sr. Director level (leading leaders and influencing across orgs).
  • Proven success advising and enabling teams delivering production-grade AI/ML or GenAI solutions.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: distributed systems, API design, cloud-native architectures, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive outcomes through influence in complex, matrixed environments (no direct authority over all execution teams).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable operating with executives and translating ambiguity into clear plans
  • Bachelor's or Master's in a technical field.
