Job Title: Palo Alto SME

Location: Onsite in San Jose, CA

Duration: 6+ Months Contract

Description:

Full-time on-site request, client would like the opportunity to interview in person if possible.
Needing someone that can fit into the team for successful Staff Aug. Potential to extend, they just don't want to be saddled up with someone for 9 months if it wasn't a good fit.
Important Context At this stage, the client does not yet have firm enforcement requirements defined. The initial focus is discovery, analysis, and intelligent policy design rather than hard enforcement on day one.
The consultant will help the client understand what should be enforced before changes are finalized.

Key Focus Areas:

Act as a Palo Alto Networks SME supporting firewall and VPN modernization
Create passive / discovery-based firewall rules to analyze traffic and identify required access paths
Use that analysis to design cleaner, least privilege firewall and VPN policies that eliminate unnecessary or overly permissive traffic
Design identity and role-based policies aligned to Zero Trust principles
GlobalProtect VPN policy creation and refinement (identity-aware access, posture/context-based decisions)

Tooling Notes:

SIEM experience is helpful but not required
AlienVault may be used primarily for traffic and access discovery, not for full enforcement or SOC-level monitoring
Palo Alto tooling and GlobalProtect will be the primary focus areas

Required Qualifications:

Ability to work onsite in San Jose, CA
Senior-level network security engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and GlobalProtect VPN
Experience designing identity based and role-based access models
