education: Bachelors
responsibilities:
- Understand engineering principles to analyze data and develop Computer?Aided Design (CAD) models to optimize design opportunities.
- Apply engineering fundamentals to design, document, build, and test component?level solutions using CAD and drawing standards (e.g., Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5) with awareness of the surround sub-system and machine context.
- Create, revise, and release models/drawings using Product Data Management (PDM) tools (e.g., PDMWorks) and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) according to team work?ows.
- Execute bench or machine tests on prototypes; collect and analyze data using basic statistical methods (e.g., Excel, Minitab) and support simulation-to-test correlation under guidance (e.g. interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) produced per Vermeer standards in tools such as ANSYS).
- Participate in root?cause analysis of component or assembly issues using structured problem-solving approaches (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma principles) and collaborate with cross-functional partners on corrective actions.
- Incorporate Design for Manufacturability (DFM)/Design for Assembly (DFA)/Design for Serviceability (DFS) considerations; collaborate with manufacturing and service early in the design process.
- Coordinate tasks and communicate status with peers and stakeholders; manage time to meet team goals, metrics, and milestones; participate in the team's Digital Lean cadences (e.g. stand-ups, sprint reviews/retrospectives) where used.

- Foundational analysis skills, including exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and understanding of material properties, durability, and strength of materials where appropriate
- Familiarity with basic statistical analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, JMP as applicable) to interpret test data and support data-driven decisions and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to operate basic shop tools (e.g., wrenches, drill press, band saw) for prototyping and to support test execution and data collection.
- Collaboration, communication, and time management skills to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and service teams; familiarity with Agile/Lean team practices where applied (Digital Lean).
