Vaco is partnering with a growing, multi-entity organization in the facilities and building systems space to hire a Network Engineer to support and evolve its infrastructure across multiple locations. This environment blends traditional corporate IT with field-based systems and operational technology, creating a unique and often non-standard network landscape.
This is not a plug-and-play enterprise environment. The network footprint spans multiple sites, systems, and vendors, with varying levels of maturity. The ideal candidate is someone who can step into that reality, bring structure where needed, and take ownership of both day-to-day stability and longer-term improvements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support and maintain network infrastructure across multiple sites, including switches, firewalls, wireless, and VPN connectivity
- Troubleshoot complex issues across network, system, and application layers in environments that are not always standardized
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to support and improve connectivity across both corporate IT and field-based systems
- Assist in evaluating and improving network architecture as the organization continues to grow and integrate new locations
- Support site onboarding and integration efforts, including network configuration, connectivity validation, and issue resolution
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with IT leadership on prioritization, planning, and execution of infrastructure initiatives
- Assist with documentation of network environments, configurations, and processes
- Provide hands-on support for infrastructure-related issues, including occasional on-site troubleshooting
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure, or systems integration roles
- Strong understanding of core networking concepts including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs
- Experience working across multiple environments or sites with varying configurations
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-system issues independently
- Experience working with multiple network vendors and technologies
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Ability to operate in environments with evolving processes and incomplete documentation
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting facilities, building systems, or operational technology environments
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts in Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Exposure to identity and access concepts such as Entra ID or similar platforms
- Experience working with MSPs or external vendors and holding them accountable to delivery
- Background in systems engineering (Windows Server, endpoints) alongside networking
