Summary

As a Software Development Manager for iPad and tablet applications you will focus on leading software/application development teams to design, build, and maintain high-performing applications for the iOS (iPadOS) and Android tablet platforms.
This role includes both technical leadership and people management, focusing on user experience, performance, and API integration, often involving frameworks like Swift, SwiftUI, or Kotlin.
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, hire, and mentor a team of mobile engineers (iOS/Android), promoting best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
Technical Strategy & Architecture: Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and code reviews for tablet-specific UI/UX, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and seamless integration with back-end services.
Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full software development life cycle (SDLC) from planning and road-mapping to deployment and maintenance - balancing feature development with technical debt.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, design (UI/UX), and QA teams to define roadmaps and deliver user-focused, intuitive applications.
Device Management/System Integration: In enterprise contexts, manage the development of tools for device management (MDM) that configure iPad/tablet security, settings, and deployment.
Performance Optimization: Ensure applications meet high standards for quality, troubleshooting, debugging, and tuning performance (e.g., using Instruments in Xcode).

Required Qualifications
Experience: 3 5+ years of engineering management experience leading mobile (iOS/Android) development teams.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in mobile software development, with expertise in Swift/Objective-C for iPadOS or Kotlin/Java for Android.
Platform Knowledge: Understanding of Interface Guidelines, tablet-specific UI design, and frameworks (e.g., CoreData, Cocoa Touch, XPC).
Tools: Proficiency with ADO, Git, CI/CD tools, and app debugging tools.
Education: Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with MDM (Mobile Device Management) or Declarative Device Management.
Experience in concurrent programming (multi-threading, libdispatch).
Proven record of delivering complex, internal and public-facing enterprise-level applications.
Strong experience using Team Foundation Server or Azure DevOps - including branching, merging, shelving
Experience working in a rapid Agile environment, contributing equally to team projects or working individually on multiple parallel product versions
Experience with integration with hardware devices like payment reader, signature pad, document & barcode scanner etc.
Comfortable presenting at daily stand-ups with other developers and QA personnel
Ability to work in a dynamic, demanding, and challenging business environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex systems and logic to both technical and non-technical audiences.
A desire to improve both the team and the product.
