Design, build, and operate test benches for prototype robotic and mechatronic hardware.
Develop comprehensive test plans, test methods, acceptance criteria, and test procedures.
Design and build custom test fixtures, jigs, and hardware setups.
Perform characterization and functional testing of mechatronic systems.
Conduct hardware bring-up, integration, debugging, and validation.
Test actuators, sensors, batteries, power systems, electronics, and robotic manipulation systems.
Perform PCB bring-up and troubleshoot issues at the component, board, and system levels.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical drawings.
Validate and troubleshoot CAN, EtherCAT, and RS-485 communication interfaces.
Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, signal analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment.
Perform root-cause analysis and failure investigation for hardware issues.
Develop and maintain failure-analysis reports and laboratory debug procedures.
Design and execute reliability and environmental testing, including:
Analyze reliability and failure data and work with hardware engineers on design improvements.
Provide DFM/DFA feedback based on hands-on build and integration experience.
Support prototype hardware builds involving actuators, sensors, compute modules, and power-distribution systems.
Maintain test equipment calibration records and ensure measurement accuracy.
Develop test automation, data logging, and analysis scripts using Python or similar languages.
Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, robotics engineers, AI researchers, and lab operations teams.
Train junior team members on test equipment and debugging methodologies.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of hands-on experience in hardware development, test engineering, reliability engineering, or systems integration.
Strong experience with verification and validation (V&V) of robotics, automation, automotive, aerospace, or complex hardware systems.
Proven experience developing test methods, test plans, test fixtures, and acceptance criteria.
Strong proficiency with electronic test and measurement equipment.
Ability to independently read and interpret:
Electrical schematics
PCB layouts
Mechanical drawings
Hands-on experience building test benches and custom fixtures from scratch.
Strong hardware debugging and root-cause-analysis skills.
Excellent technical documentation skills, including test plans, procedures, build documentation, and failure-analysis reports.
Ability to work hands-on with both electrical and mechanical hardware.
Robotics, physical AI, advanced hardware R&D, or high-DoF robotic systems experience.
Experience with servo drives and embedded motor-control systems.
Experience with FMEA, HALT/HASS, ALT, Weibull analysis, or reliability-growth methodologies.
Strong Python scripting experience for test automation, data logging, and analysis.
Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
Experience with CAN, EtherCAT, and RS-485.
Automotive or aerospace hardware testing experience.
Experience with DFM/DFA and prototype hardware integration.
