Job Title: Open Text VIM consultant 

Location: Remote

Duration – Long term contract

The OpenText VIM Consultant is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of automated Accounts Payable (AP) workflows. This includes analyzing business requirements, configuring the OpenText environment, optimizing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, and ensuring seamless integration with SAP Financials. The ultimate goal is to minimize manual data entry, reduce invoice processing times, and eliminate payment errors.

• Solution Architecture & Configuration: Design, build, and configure OpenText VIM components, including Document Processing (DP) dashboards, exception handling, and invoice approval workflows [req].
• OCR Automation: Implement and optimize OpenText Intelligent Capture (formerly ICC/OCC) or Core Capture to maximize automated data extraction accuracy from digital and paper invoices [req].
• SAP Integration: Configure VIM to map seamlessly with SAP Accounts Payable (FI-AP), Materials Management (MM-LIV), and Procurement processes [req].
• Workflow Management: Set up complex multi-level approval hierarchies based on company policies, dollar thresholds, and cost centers [req].
• System Upgrades & Migrations: Lead technical upgrades of OpenText VIM versions and support data migration during company transitions from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA [req].
• Troubleshooting & Support: Conduct root-cause analysis on system bugs, workflow bottlenecks, and failed document extractions. Work with ABAP developers to build custom user exits or BAdIs when standard functionality falls short [req].
• Business Advisory: Conduct workshops with corporate finance leaders to define business rules, reduce invoice cycle times, and eliminate processing backlogs.

Required Technical Skills

• Core OpenText VIM: Strong experience with OpenText VIM (versions 7.5, 16.3, 20.4, or higher) and VIM Analytics (VAN) [req].
• SAP Financials: Mastery of standard SAP invoice verification transactions (MIRO, FB60), purchase orders, goods receipts, and vendor master data [req].
• Capture Tools: Hands-on experience configuring OpenText Information Capture Center (ICC) or Intelligent Capture [req].
• Fiori & User Experience: Familiarity with deploying and configuring SAP Fiori apps tailored for VIM mobile approvals [req].
• Debugging: Ability to use basic ABAP debugging tools to trace data flow errors and inspect workflow logs [req].

Soft Skills & Professional Competencies

• Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to map chaotic, paper-heavy financial workflows into clean, logical automated processes.
• Communication: Strong ability to explain complex technical configuration logic to non-technical Accounting and Procurement teams.
• Project Methodology: Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAP Activate methodologies for software deployment.

Typical Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 8+ years of dedicated experience in SAP AP and OpenText VIM implementation projects.

Certifications (Preferred): OpenText Business Center / VIM Consultant Certification, or SAP Certified Application Associate.
