Design Project Manager, Food & Beverage

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a Design Project Manager, Food & Beverage to join a major design-build engineering firm with locations across the U.S. as it launches a new Food and Beverage Division, a true ground-floor opportunity. The Design Project Manager, Food & Beverage will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, both in-house and external, to deliver integrated design packages for design-build projects and will support Operations through construction. This is a full-time, partially remote (hybrid) position based in Gainesville, Georgia, with relocation assistance available.

Partnering with the Director, Preconstruction, and Operations teams, this leader makes sure owner objectives are met and design stays tied to construction. Success is measured across client satisfaction, team effectiveness, risk mitigation, financial targets, quality, and schedule. Acting as the central coordinator among the owner, designers, the firm, and subcontractors, the role balances design and construction needs at the same time. The position sits within the Design Department and is dedicated solely to the Food and Beverage Division.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to project pursuits by defining scope, building proposal deliverables, and joining presentations and interviews.
  • Steer the flow of project information into and out of design and construction, answering to the project team.
  • Integrate design and communication across the team, keep design within budget, and advance design to protect the construction schedule.
  • Apply cross-disciplinary fluency in architectural design, engineering, preconstruction, and construction.
  • Prepare man-hour estimates and project budgets for capital projects.
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction, Design, and the Operations lead to set the right budget and hold all required design and preconstruction meetings.
  • Evaluate alternative design options alongside Preconstruction.
  • Align the team on the owner's overall objectives that drive design, and translate them into design parameters.
  • Unite designers, preconstruction, construction, the owner, and outside consultants into one team.
  • Engage needed consultants with legal counsel, and determine required third-party studies and reports, such as geotechnical, Phase I, and hazardous materials.
  • Build the overall design schedule to support construction start, and keep design progressing within budget.
  • Define decision-making authority among team members and identify critical owner information needed for design.
  • Guide a smooth handoff from design to construction.
