Job Title: AWS Cloud Systems Administrator
Location: Columbia, Maryland (Hybrid - Onsite once a week)
Type: Contract-to-Hire (C2H)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AWS Cloud Systems Administrator to join our team supporting CareFirst BCBS. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS cloud infrastructure, automation, and systems engineering, with a proven track record of managing production-level cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage AWS cloud infrastructure including services such as VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, ELB, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EKS, and more.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud environments for performance, cost, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support cloud-based solutions and deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices in cloud operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and development environments.
  • Document processes, configurations, and architectural decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of overall IT experience, with at least 5 years in AWS Cloud Automation and Administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud architecture.
  • Proven experience in production-level AWS implementations.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools.
  • Solid background in systems engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certifications such as:
    • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and agile environments.
