Senior QA Engineer (Manual + Automation | ADO | Agile) Role Summary Apex Systems is looking for a QA function from the ground up and is seeking a Senior QA Engineer who will own both manual and automated testing. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining high quality manual test cases in Azure DevOps to support in sprint validation and regression testing, while simultaneously driving the design and implementation of automated tests as the automation strategy matures.
This engineer will act as a hands on quality leader, partnering with development teams and an Apex QA Lead to establish QA best practices, procedures, and tooling standards. The role requires someone who can execute today while building toward tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities Automation Framework ExpectationsThis includes experience with:
- Participating in framework setup from a greenfield or early-stage environment
- Defining test structure, conventions, and reusable components
- Applying sound automation design principles such as abstraction, maintainability, and scalability
- Integrating automated tests into a broader QA lifecycle and CI/CD context
Technical Skillset- .NET-based application environment, and this role will work closely with engineering teams supporting those applications.
- Candidates are not required to be .NET developers, but they must demonstrate strong .NET application literacy, including:
- Ability to read and reason about .NET codebases at a functional level
- Understanding of common .NET application architectures and patterns
- Comfort testing API-driven and layered applications
- Ability to identify risk areas, integration points, and regression impact within .NET systems
Automation Tooling Candidates should have:
- Familiarity with Playwright or comparable automation tools
- An understanding of when automation adds value versus when it introduces risk
- Experience contributing to automation incrementally, rather than pursuing blanket coverage
