Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled IT Network Engineer with 5%2B years of experience to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of the Tufts Medicine network. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support IT operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design, configuration, and management of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communications systems.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
Monitor network performance, identify issues, and ensure timely resolution to maintain network stability.
Support network security initiatives, including firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.
Collaborate with senior network engineers to implement and maintain network upgrades, expansions, and troubleshooting.
Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, topologies, and troubleshooting processes.
Respond to network incidents and provide timely support to ensure minimal downtime.
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging network technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
5%2B years of experience in network engineering with a focus on enterprise-level network infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANS, Routing protocols such OSPF and BGP).
Experience with network hardware (Aruba/HPE, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, ClearPass, Dell Networking, Extreme.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
Certifications such Cisco CCNA, CCNP or similar are a plus but not required.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
Knowledge in SD-WAN and network automation
Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, APCs).
Familiarity with network security principles and practices.
