Job Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of mechanical engineering work within a project or staff group.
  • Performs engineering tasks involving conventional practices, including resolving complex design challenges, material suitability issues, and coordination constraints.
  • Prepares equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Coordinates engineering efforts across multidisciplinary teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Assumes a lead technical role over engineers or project subgroups for assigned tasks.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and provides recommendations to supervisors and project management.
  • Supports development of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and design guides.
  • Mentors designers and drafters, providing on-the-job training and professional development support.
  • Promotes a collaborative work environment focused on teamwork, communication, innovation, and employee engagement.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (or international equivalent).
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience in Semiconductor, AI Data Center, and/or Life Sciences/Pharma industries.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong experience in fire protection systems within Semiconductor, AI Data Center, or Life Sciences/Pharma environments.
  • Ability to independently design and specify fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire-water pumps, and storage tank capacities.
  • Experience performing hydraulic calculations and determining fire water piping/header sizing.
  • Knowledge of wet pipe systems and standards such as NFPA 13 and NFPA 14, along with FM standards.
  • Experience with fire protection equipment including pumps, storage tanks, and deluge systems.
  • Knowledge of cooling tower deluge systems in accordance with NFPA 214.
  • Understanding of fire protection system testing, acceptance procedures, and regulatory compliance with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Experience coordinating regulatory approvals with project stakeholders and authorities.
  • Experience managing engineering subcontracts and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ASME, IBC, IMC, and NFPA.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, calculations, and system design techniques.
  • Awareness of cross-functional project roles, construction practices, and cost considerations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot field or job site issues and provide effective resolution guidance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and complex project requirements.
