Kentro is hiring for
Cloud Engineer to support the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) under the Enterprise Development and Application Training (EDAT) program. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud environments that enable mission-critical applications and data services.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cloud platforms, strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, and the ability to support modern DevSecOps practices in a highly secure, mission-driven environment.
Location: Onsite in Fort Bragg, NC Responsibilities- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure in secure DoD environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
- Support migration of on-premise systems to cloud-based architectures
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code ( IaC ) using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or CloudFormation
- Integrate security controls in alignment with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Zero Trust principles
- Collaborate with developers and DevSecOps teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security using cloud-native and third-party tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure and application issues
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, including documentation and artifact development
- Ensure compliance with DoD and federal cybersecurity policies (e.g., NIST 800-53, STIGs)
- Optimize cloud environments for cost, performance, and scalability
Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience: 5-10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 3+ years in cloud engineering
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure , preferably in government cloud environments
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or Bicep)
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, firewalls)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience supporting RMF/ATO processes and cybersecurity compliance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment
- Certifications:
- DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, or equivalent) - Required
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps , or Azure Administrator - Preferred
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar - Nice to have
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supporting USASOC, SOCOM, or other DoD environments
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) concepts and implementation
- Experience with DevSecOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps)
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk)
- Understanding of hybrid cloud/on-prem integration
Clearance Requirement: - Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
