Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Azure Cloud Architect to lead and build our Azure cloud ecosystem from the ground up. This is a greenfield + transformation role, where a small Azure footprint exists today, but the expectation is for this individual to architect, design, and implement a scalable, secure, and enterprise-grade Azure environment independently.
This is not a strategy-only role we are looking for a doer + leader who can roll up their sleeves and execute.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build Azure cloud architecture from scratch, aligning with business and technical goals
Lead end-to-end cloud transformation initiatives, including migration, modernization, and optimization
Define and implement best practices for Azure governance, security, networking, and cost optimization
Architect and deploy highly available, scalable, and resilient solutions using Azure services
Work hands-on with:
Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings
Networking (VNet, ExpressRoute, VPN, NSGs)
Compute (VMs, App Services, AKS, Functions)
Storage and databases
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ARM, or Bicep
Establish CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
Drive cloud security architecture (IAM, RBAC, Key Vault, policies, compliance)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers
Act as the technical authority for all Azure-related decisions
Required Qualifications
10+ years of IT experience with deep expertise in cloud architecture
5+ years of hands-on Azure experience designing and implementing solutions
Proven experience in building Azure environments from the ground up
Strong experience with:
Azure Architecture & Services
Cloud Networking & Security
Infrastructure Automation (Terraform/ARM/Bicep)
Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS)
Experience with cloud migration strategies (lift & shift, re-platforming, re-architecting)
Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
Experience with DevOps practices and tools
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
Experience in hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments
Background in enterprise-scale cloud transformations
Experience with FinOps / cost optimization strategies
