FinOps Engineer || Charlotte, NC (Onsite)

Job Summary

We are seeking a FinOps Engineer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), BigQuery, and cloud cost optimization. The ideal candidate will monitor and optimize cloud spend, implement FinOps best practices, develop cost reporting dashboards, and improve BigQuery performance while collaborating with engineering teams to drive efficient cloud resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize Google Cloud Platform costs and cloud resource utilization.
• Use Apptio Cloudability and other FinOps tools for cloud cost management.
• Build and maintain Grafana dashboards for cloud cost, usage, and operational metrics.
• Work with Google Cloud Platform APIs, including Cloud Asset Inventory and BigQuery Information Schema.
• Implement cloud governance, tagging strategies, and cost optimization practices.
• Develop automated reporting, budget tracking, and anomaly detection solutions.
• Optimize BigQuery cost, slot consumption, reservations, quotas, and partitioning.
• Tune BigQuery SQL queries to reduce shuffle and slot overuse.
• Define strategies for cost-effective and efficient BigQuery data consumption.
