Key Activities
- Design and develop complex PowerBI reports and dashboards with advanced calculations, ensuring optimal performance and scalability
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing PowerBI reports by analyzing performance bottlenecks, refining queries, solving gateway issues and improving data refresh times
- Integrate PowerBI with multiple data sources (SQL Server, Azure, APIs, Excel, 3rd party applications) and establish automated data refresh schedules and gateway configurations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, create technical documentation, and provide best practices guidance on PowerBI governance and security
Required Technical Skills
- Strong data modeling skills with experience in star/snowflake schemas, normalization, and building relationships across multiple data sources
- Advanced knowledge of PowerBI Service, Desktop, Report Server, including row-level security (RLS), deployment pipelines, and workspace management
- Solid SQL skills and experience with database design, query optimization, and working with relational databases (SQL Server, Azure SQL, etc.)
- Proficiency in data visualization best practices, performance tuning techniques, and integrating PowerBI with Azure services (Azure Analysis Services, Data Factory, Synapse)
