AI Strategy Consultant

Location: Columbia, South Carolina

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Requires 2 3 days onsite per week)

Contract Type: Long-term Contract

Interview Mode: 1 Round - Virtual/Online

Shift: EST (May require occasional nights/weekends/emergency response)

Strategy & Governance: Co-create an agency-wide AI strategy; maintain a prioritized portfolio of AI use cases and establish frameworks for responsible, ethical AI use.

Ethical AI Oversight: Define principles for fairness and transparency; conduct impact assessments for privacy and bias; oversee audits and report to the Data Governance Council.

Product Ownership: Act as the business product owner for AI solutions, ensuring measurable outcomes and adoption while partnering with technical teams for secure deployment.

Literacy & Training: Design training programs and playbooks to build AI literacy across the organization; lead change management efforts to foster trust in AI initiatives.

Compliance & Procurement: Align AI projects with cybersecurity standards and data governance policies; participate in vendor evaluations to ensure solutions meet technical and ethical requirements.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, IT, or Data Science preferred).

AI Expertise: Demonstrated experience working with AI technologies, machine learning, and data governance.

Strategic Planning: Proven experience in strategic planning, change management, and high-level stakeholder engagement.

Public Sector: Experience working within government or public sector environments is required.

Leadership: Ability to provide guidance to senior-level personnel and exercise independent discretion under limited supervision.

5+ years of progressive experience in AI strategy, data analytics, or information technology.

5+ years of experience in the government or public sector.

Strong knowledge of project planning techniques and the ability to maintain relationships between technical staff and executive management.
