IT Systems Engineer I/II will be a member of
End User Computing with duties in planning, coordinating, installing, upgrading, securing, and maintaining end user hardware & enterprise applications. The position's core function will be to support the city's annual computer replacement program that averages up to 1,500 devices per year.
This position may be filled as an Systems Engineer I ($72,763 - $112,783) or a Systems Engineer II ($80,221- $124,343) depending on qualifications.
Specific Duties:- Tasks will include OS image creation & maintenance, application packaging, OS & application patching, third tier hardware & software support, and end user computing security.
- Perform and facilitate as technical advisor & liaison for the city's computer replacement program
- Evaluate, recommend, and select new end user equipment to align city for future growth and needs
- Deploy computers and peripherals
- Manage Windows operating systems for physical and virtual platforms
- Package and deploy applications, driver packages, OS and application security updates & patches
- Review and address vulnerabilities
- Provide third-tier computer and software technical support
- Manage and administer MECM
- Manage and administer PatchMyPC
- Manage and administer MDM
- Generate technical reports
- Develop and/or update SOPs and prepare documentation
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Perform other duties as assigned by EUC manager

***This position supports the City's Public Safety departments and may involve physical access to public safety facilities and/or sensitive databases. As such, CJIS certification is required. Depending on the assignment, a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) background clearance may also be required prior to employment and annually thereafter. Minimum Requirements:Systems Engineer I Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology related field plus two (2) years of professional IT experience; OR any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or professional progressive IT experience equivalent to six (6) years in fields utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities in technology systems, systems functions, and systems capabilities; and associated with such positions as Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, Database Administrator, or Programmer Analyst. May be required to have a current and valid driver's license.
Systems Engineer II Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology related field plus four (4) years of professional IT experience; OR any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or professional progressive IT experience equivalent to eight (8) years in fields utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities in technology systems, systems 2 functions, and systems capabilities; and associated with such positions as Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, Database Administrator, or Programmer Analyst. May be required to have a current and valid driver's license.
Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. Position may require two or more Professional Industry Certifications specific to the work to be performed and maintain currency of those, or successor, certifications; such required certifications will be listed in the requisition that announces the vacancy.
