Introduction:

We are currently seeking a Senior DB2 Database Administrator to join our team and support enterprise database operations in a hybrid environment. This role will involve administering DB2 databases, performance tuning, and providing system support across AIX/UNIX platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with DB2, scripting, and troubleshooting in complex environments. This is a short-term, project-based engagement with the potential for extension, focusing on critical database infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and support DB2 database environments in an enterprise setting
• Manage DB2 installations, upgrades, and licensing (Passport Advantage)
• Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, and reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve database and system issues across AIX/UNIX/Linux platforms
• Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation and operational support
• Perform database backups, recovery, and patching activities
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance standards are maintained
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support production systems
• Provide on-call or after-hours support as needed

Requirements:

Required:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with DB2 database administration
• Strong experience with DB2 licensing and Passport Advantage
• 2+ years of experience with AIX, UNIX, or Linux environments
• Proficiency in shell scripting/programming
• Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization
• Strong troubleshooting skills in enterprise database environments
• Ability to support installations, upgrades, backups, and recovery processes
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a technical team environment

Preferred:

• Experience with DB2 on AIX
• Background in large enterprise or government environments
• Familiarity with automation and operational best practices
