Business Alignment & Integration
Requirements Discovery: Lead intensive workshops and interviews with business and technical SMEs to extract hidden business rules, definitions, and operational nuances often buried in legacy code.
Functional Gap Analysis: Identify where legacy data fails to meet modern business needs and design the necessary bridge to support future-state capabilities.
Legacy-to-Unified Harmonization: Analyze disparate data structures from multiple legacy systems and architect a single, consolidated Logical Data Model (LDM) that eliminates redundancy and provides a "single version of truth."
Semantic Consistency: Facilitate the creation of a standardized Business Glossary, ensuring that common terms mean the same thing across every department and legacy source.
Bridge to Technical Teams: Translate abstract business requirements into clear, technical specifications that developers can execute without ambiguity.
Contribute to efforts to define enterprise data governance processes and procedures.
Hands-On Technical Execution
Active Modeling: Build and iterate on complex ER Diagrams and Subject Area Models that represent the unified business view
Complex Mapping: Document the lineage and transformation logic required to migrate data from legacy sources into the new unified target architecture.
SQL-Based Validation: Directly query legacy systems to profile data and verify that the proposed unified model can realistically support existing data.
Change Management: Act as the technical advocate for the new model, guiding business users through the transition from their legacy "mental models" to the new enterprise structure.
Requirements & Experience
10+ years in Data Architecture, with a heavy emphasis on Business Analysis and Functional Design.
Proven Success in Integration: A documented history of leading at least one major project that successfully consolidated multiple legacy systems into a unified enterprise model.
Expert Communication: Exceptional "storytelling" skills the ability to explain the value of a unified model to non-technical stakeholders while maintaining technical credibility with engineers.
Technical Tools: Mastery of enterprise modeling tools and advanced SQL for data investigation.
