Summary

Role: GIS Analyst ArcGIS, SQL & GIS Application Development (245535)

Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)

Duration: FTE

Interview Process: In-person. 1-2 rounds. Candidates MUST be able to come on-site for the first and potential 2nd interview

Hybrid work schedule (non-negotiable): Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start. Wednesdays and Thursdays are required on-site days and cannot be altered.

Must have:

  • 4 years of experience in GIS, cartography, CADD, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience developing user interfaces, menus, and macro-level commands in addition to performing complex spatial analyses and producing reports according to customer specifications.
    • ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and Portal Experience
    • Builder Skill
    • Dashboard Skill
  • 4 years of experience assisting in the development of GIS that create, maintain, or leverage geospatial basemap information.
    • Create Basemaps
    • Create Tile Cache
    • Imagery analysis
  • 4 years of Advanced skills in SQL with writing database scripts, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and SSIS packages as well as maintain spatial databases and document procedures, validate data, update and mantain metadata for new and existing items
  • 4 years of Advanced skills in unit testing, system testing, regression testing, and automated testing to ensure product quality meet client expectation
  • 2 years of Experience in C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, XML, AJAX, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Transact SQL(T-SQL), Typescript, Experience in Power Apps
      • Knowledge of ADA Compliance (1+ years of experience)
      • Bachelor's degree required. Foreign degrees will be accepted if evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.

Overview:

Support highly complex GIS applications while working across spatial data, GIS application development, database technologies, testing, and web/mobile applications. This role provides opportunities to work closely with development teams and Project Managers to improve GIS solutions, streamline spatial data needs, and support application quality, milestones, and deadlines.

The role will primarily support applications associated with environmental and natural-resource functions, with additional application development support assigned as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Support multiple highly complex GIS applications.
  • Collaborate with development staff by providing advice and guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure project quality, milestones, and deadlines are met.
  • Develop solutions and streamline spatial data needs through the maintenance and modification of existing web, client/server, or mobile applications.
  • Support additional application development needs as assigned.
  • Adhere to applicable technology and client standards.
  • Develop or approve plans for testing and implementation of web-based, client/server, mobile, or data system applications.
  • Evaluate the impact of new technology and recommend solutions to persistent problems.
  • Serve as a customer service liaison to the client and external consultants.
  • Maintain current knowledge of changing IT technologies through continuous learning.
  • Support applications across PC-based, web-based, and mobile platforms.
  • Support legacy application development and maintenance where applicable.

  • 4 years of advanced skills in unit testing, system testing, regression testing, and automated testing to ensure product quality meets client expectations.
