Job Title: AWS/Java/ETL Developer
Location: Raleigh, NC 27607
Work Mode: Hybrid
Duration: 12 Months Contract with possible extension
 
Job Summary
We are seeking an AWS/Java/ETL Developer specializing in data modernization using cloud solutions on AWS. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of software development experience. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing AWS solutions that align with technical requirements and business objectives.
 
Responsibilities
• Experience modernizing legacy applications, including refactoring and migrating in-house legacy applications to cloud environments
• Utilize AWS services and related components to build enterprise-level Data Lakes
• Develop software using Java, J2EE, Java Spring Framework, and Hibernate
• Work with transactional or RDBMS databases
• Apply DevOps practices and automation tools
• Write complex SQL queries, understand database relationships, and perform debugging and performance tuning
• Work with cloud-based ETL tools
• Apply data modeling knowledge
• Work with Agile/Scrum Framework environments
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose modernization strategies
• Design, develop, and test Java-based cloud-native applications and backend systems
• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines
• Analyze data models and business requirements
• Query databases to verify that data is correctly inserted, updated, and deleted by the application
• Design, create, and execute test cases
• Validate backend logic and data processing
• Work closely with developers and business analysts to understand data requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage
• Utilize AWS services within application architecture
• Develop, test, debug, and deliver within timelines using available tools and best practices
• Participate in code reviews and ensure security best practices
• Maintain clean, efficient code
• Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability
• Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges
• Ensure adherence to standards and best practices
• Work with product managers, business stakeholders, and other team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions
 
 
Required Skills
• 5+ years of experience using AWS services such as VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, and Athena
• 7+ years of software development experience with strong Java, J2EE, Java Spring Framework, and Hibernate skills
• 5+ years of experience modernizing applications, including refactoring, migration, and cloud-native development
• 5+ years of experience with modern database technologies and strategies for migrating and modernizing database systems
• 5+ years of experience with DevOps practices and automation tools
• 7+ years of strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders
• 3+ years of experience creating AWS ETL jobs and data pipelines with high volumes of data
 
Preferred Skills
• 2+ years of experience with data analytics and business intelligence solutions such as Power BI or AWS QuickSight
• AWS Certification
• State Government experience
