Cobol Developer

About your role:

You will join a technology team responsible for supporting enterprise mainframe applications that power Fiserv's core financial services platforms. In this role, you will apply deep technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance in a fast-paced, SLA-driven production environment.

What you'll do:

• Modify, test, and support mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL (DB2), and CICS in an IBM z/OS environment.
• Review application designs and source code to assist with testing, debugging, and production readiness.
• Code and test high-priority and critical changes in support of business and operational requirements.
• Perform performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications to maintain stability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including root cause analysis and defect correction.
• Collaborate with remote and cross-functional team members to deliver reliable application support.
• Provide regular project and task status updates to project managers and related stakeholders.
• Create and maintain technical and operational documentation to support ongoing application maintenance.

Experience you'll need to have:

• 6+ years of software development experience.
• Hands-on experience in an IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environment.
• Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Experience deploying fixes in SLA-driven production environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience in creating technical documentation.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience

Experience that would be great to have:

• DB2 utilities, IDCAMS, SyncSort, File-Master, CICS.
• FTP / NDM file transmission.
• REXX, Endevor, Clarity, Jira.
• Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint.

How you'll work:

• On-call rotational support.
• Use of Computer and audio equipment required.

Salary Range
$97,500.00 - $164,400.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
